1. Overview
Where an event offers prizes, this page explains how CompMetrics handles prize eligibility and payout information. Prize structures, values and categories vary by event and are set by the Event Owner — this page describes the process, not any specific event’s prizes.
2. Prize eligibility
Prize eligibility is generated only from a finalised (frozen) leaderboard release for the relevant category — never from live/provisional standings. Placement is computed from the same results engine that produces the public leaderboard, then independently re-validated before eligibility is recorded.
3. Provisional standings create no entitlement
Being shown in first place on a live, unreleased or unfinalised leaderboard does not entitle you to a prize. Standings can and do change until the organiser releases and freezes final results.
4. Cash & non-cash prizes
An event may offer cash prizes, non-cash prizes (such as merchandise or vouchers), or both, across one or more placements per category, as configured by the Event Owner. Only the cash-prize payout process described below involves CompMetrics recording banking/payout information; non-cash prize fulfilment is arranged directly by the Event Owner.
5. Team prizes
For a team entry, the team designates one payout recipient from among the entry’s own linked members to receive a cash prize on the team’s behalf, in the current (v1) model — there is no automatic split among members and no arbitrary third-party recipient. How the team distributes the prize among its members afterward is a matter for the team, not CompMetrics or the event organiser.
6. Payout details & event-specific authorisation
To receive a cash prize, an eligible athlete supplies banking/payout details to their own master payout profile, and must then explicitly authorise sharing those details with the specific event’s organiser before the organiser can see them. This authorisation creates an event-specific snapshot for that event’s payout only — it does not grant blanket access to future events. See the Privacy Policy, section 9, for exactly who can see this information and how reveals are audited.
7. External EFT payment
CompMetrics does not itself transfer prize money. Once an eligible recipient has authorised sharing their payout details, the Event Owner makes payment directly to the recipient by external electronic funds transfer (EFT), outside the Platform. CompMetrics may record the payout’s status (for example, paid), date and an organiser-supplied reference/note for both the organiser’s and recipient’s records, but the movement of money itself happens between the organiser and the recipient’s bank.
8. Disputes & result corrections
If a result affecting prize placement needs correction, the organiser resolves it through the event’s own scoring/adjudication process (see the Terms, section 10). A correction after a payout has already been recorded as paid does not itself reverse the historical payout evidence, which is preserved for accounting/audit purposes.
9. Tax
Any tax consequences of receiving a prize (cash or non-cash) are the recipient’s own responsibility, where legally applicable. CompMetrics does not provide tax advice, and nothing on this page or elsewhere on the Platform should be treated as such — consult a qualified tax advisor about your own position.
10. Incorrect banking details
You are responsible for the accuracy of the banking details you supply. Incorrect details you provide may delay or prevent payment, and CompMetrics and the Event Owner are not responsible for a payment that fails or goes to the wrong account because of banking details you supplied incorrectly.
