1. Overview
Each competition on CompMetrics is run by its own Event Owner, who sets that event’s specific cancellation and refund terms (often shown at registration/checkout). This page describes CompMetrics’ general position where an event doesn’t state otherwise, and how payment mechanics work. It does not remove any right you have under South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (see section 7) — nothing on this page should be read as waiving those rights.
2. Athlete & team registration
- CompMetrics does not offer automated self-service refunds initiated by the athlete. Where a refund is warranted, the Event Owner or Admin for that event records it, and the amount already paid is returned through the same payment method used at checkout.
- Cancelling your own registration (where the event allows self-service cancellation) stops you from being counted against capacity going forward, but does not, by itself, automatically refund a payment already made — contact the organiser about a refund for that event.
- The athlete-paid platform fee (see the Terms, section 8) is part of the transaction processed through Paystack; any refund is handled through the same payment-provider mechanism as the underlying entry payment.
3. Spectator tickets
Spectator ticket refunds follow the specific event’s stated policy. Where an event states “no refunds”, this is subject to your statutory rights (section 7) — for example, where an event is cancelled by the organiser (section 5) or where the law otherwise entitles you to a refund.
4. Vendor applications
A vendor may withdraw their own application before confirmation through the event’s process. Where a vendor fee has already been paid and a confirmed vendor is later cancelled by the organiser, or a paid application is rejected, refund of that fee is a matter for the Event Owner to arrange, following the same statutory principles as section 7.
5. Event cancellation or postponement
If an Event Owner cancels or materially postpones their event, the applicable refund/credit approach for that event’s registrations, tickets and vendor fees is a decision for that Event Owner, subject to the statutory rights described in section 7. Where CompMetrics has already collected a payment via Paystack for that event, CompMetrics supports the organiser in reconciling and processing any resulting refund through the same payment channel.
6. Failed, pending & duplicate payments
Every payment is independently verified against our payment provider before a registration, order or application is confirmed — a payment is never accepted purely because your browser returned to a success page. If a payment fails or stays pending: no confirmed entry/ticket/application is created from it, and no duplicate charge is created by retrying or by a duplicate provider callback (our systems are built to process each successful payment exactly once). If you believe you were charged without receiving a confirmed registration, ticket or application, contact us using the details in section 8 with your payment reference so we can reconcile it with the provider.
7. Your statutory rights
Nothing in this policy limits or waives any right you have under South African law, including (where applicable to your transaction) the Consumer Protection Act’s provisions on cancellation of bookings/reservations, and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act’s cooling-off right for electronic transactions. Whether and how these rights apply to a specific booking depends on the type of transaction and, for some rights, whether the service has already been performed/used by the time you seek to cancel — if you believe a statutory right applies to your situation, contact us and we will consider it, and you may also seek independent advice.
8. How to request a cancellation or raise a query
For an event-specific refund/cancellation, contact the event’s organiser directly (their contact details are usually on the event’s public page) or CompMetrics support at support@compmetrics.co.za, including your registration/order/application reference.
